- אַלְוִוין(עַלְוִיִּים, עַלְוָאִין) m. pl. (v. אַלְוָא) the herbaceous plant aloe, a kind of cress. Y.Shebi.IV, 35b bot.; Tosef. ib. I, end (ed. Zuck. עלוא׳, oth. ed. עלויין) ומקיימין את הא׳וכ׳ you may (in the Sabbath year) let the aloe grow on the top of the roof, but you must not water it.
